Controller Job Description
Location: Work from home
Job Reports To: Sr Controller / Director / VP
Shift Availability: Candidates should be available 6:30 PM IST to 3:30 AM IST, with flexibility to also support outside these hours as required.
About the Role:
The Controller is responsible for managing multiple client relationships, ensuring service delivery excellence, and overseeing end-to-end accounting operations. This role requires strong leadership, deep financial expertise, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, multi-client environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- Chartered Accountant (CA) strongly preferred
- 15+ years of relevant accounting and financial management experience
- Proven experience managing multiple US-based clients and service-level agreements
- Prior experience in retail or restaurant industries preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Strong expertise in financial statements, including Balance Sheet and P&L
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrix environment
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- High level of ownership, accountability, and self-motivation
- Experience leading and supervising accounting teams
Key Responsibilities
Client & Financial Management
- Serve as the primary owner for multiple client engagements
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of all financial statements and reports
- Drive a structured month-end close process, including reconciliations and review controls
- Maintain accountability for all client SLAs and deliverables
- Lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with clients and provide actionable insights
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage and mentor accounting teams across multiple functions
- Oversee hiring, training, performance management, and career development
- Foster a high-performance, client-focused culture within teams
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Identify and implement automation and process improvement initiatives
- Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards
- Coordinate with external auditors and support audit processes
