The Role

 

As the Strategic Project Manager you will oversee and manage complex projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills to coordinate cross-functional teams and stakeholders. You will play a crucial part in maintaining project quality, mitigating risks, and fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and excellence.

 

Responsibilities

 

Lead and manage complex projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope,and within budget

Specific initiatives include the delivery of a program of client migrations, rolling out project management software and project management practice.

Develop business cases and project charters to support key initiatives with input from key stakeholders

Following approval process, build and maintain detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, resource allocation and key assets such as RAID logs

Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and clients to ensure project objectives are met

Monitor project progress and changes, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies

Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques

Prepare and present project status reports to senior management and stakeholders

Ensure adherence to project management methodologies and best practices

Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment

Manage project budgets, track expenses and benefits stream, ensuring financial accountability

Conduct post-project evaluations and identify areas for improvement

 

Skills and Experience

 

Successful candidates for this role will generally possess the following qualifications and skills:

 

Bachelor's degree in a Numerate discipline, Business Administration, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered. MBA or PMP certification is preferred

Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in project management, with a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects with executive stakeholders.

Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools (e.g., Asana, JIRA)

Excellent leadership, organizational, and time management skills

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels. This is a key component of the job.

Experience in preparing comprehensive internal reports to communicate successes, challenges, metrics and outcomes to relevant stakeholders

Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities

Experience in risk management and change management

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
