Overview
Our client, a respected player in the petrochemical sector, is currently recruiting three qualified Plate Welders to join their operations in Johannesburg and Cape Town. The ideal candidates will bring strong technical expertise, proven experience in petrochemical environments, and a solid commitment to safety and precision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality coded welding on components used in petrochemical installations and maintenance projects
  • Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols
  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections to verify weld quality and compliance with relevant standards
  • Ensure all welding activities comply with occupational health and safety regulations and industry codes
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot welding equipment to ensure optimal functionality
  • Collaborate with foremen, safety officers, and project teams to ensure work is delivered on time, within scope, and to required quality standards
  • Uphold a clean, organised, and safety-conscious work environment

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience as a Plate Welder in petrochemical or similar high-risk industrial environments
  • Valid coded welder certification(s) (e.g., ASME, AWS, SAW – please specify in your application)
  • Red Seal Trade Certification will be a distinct advantage
  • Proficient in multiple welding techniques, including TIG, MIG, Stick, and plate welding
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret technical documents, including engineering drawings and welding codes
  • Strong understanding of metallurgical properties, welding procedures, and fabrication tolerances
  • Excellent attention to detail and a consistent track record of producing high-quality, defect-free welds
  • Physically fit, with the stamina and focus required to perform welding work under challenging conditions
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work within a team, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Immediate availability is preferred
