Shape the legal backbone of Austrian Airlines. Lead governance and compliance at the highest level — be the key advisor, trusted partner, and guardian of integrity across our company and the Lufthansa Group in Austria.
Tasks
In this key leadership role, you will oversee all legal, compliance, and corporate governance matters of Austrian, ensure regulatory adherence, manage legal risks, and coordinate with internal stakeholders and external authorities across national and international levels.
You lead the Legal & Compliance team, manage budget, legal risks, and external law firms
You advise the Executive Board and act as key contact for Austrian and EU authorities on legal and regulatory issues
You define strategic legal priorities, harmonize standards, and ensure Group-aligned governance and compliance frameworks
You manage board and shareholder meetings, legal structuring of subsidiaries, and support shareholder representatives
You ensure GDPR and Austrian data law compliance and steer internal data protection systems
You negotiate, draft, and enforce contracts (e.g. leases, airport agreements) and defend legal claims
You provide legal services for Lufthansa Group entities in Austria and represent Austrian Airlines in Group-wide legal initiatives
Requirements
In this senior role, we are looking for a legal leader with strategic foresight, hands-on experience, and the ability to represent Austrian within a global group environment.
You bring 10+ years of experience in Legal & Corporate Affairs, including 5+ years advising executive leadership
You ideally hold a bar exam (\“Rechtsanwaltsprüfung\“) and offer strong corporate governance expertise
You navigate international commercial contracts confidently
You think cross-functionally and work process-oriented
You communicate with clarity and diplomacy at all levels
You act as a legal ambassador for the Lufthansa Group
You lead diverse teams in complex and regulated environments
You speak fluent German and English and negotiate expertly in both
You hold a valid work permit for Austria
